Travel Tips
A short two-hour drive from the international airport in San José brings
you to Hermosa. We recommend renting a 4-wheel drive vehicle. The cheapest
we have found is the Daihatsu Terios.
All countries require a passport for international travel. It can take up to 8 weeks to apply and receive it if you do not already have one, so take that into consideration.
You can use American dollars virtually everywhere you go in Costa Rica. You will get your change back in Colones (Kah-lone-AA’s), the Costa Rican currency.
Jaco (Ha-koh) is the biggest beach town on the way to the house and the cabina. It has everything you could need including Internet café’s with phones, restaurants, pharmacy, etc. Try the fish tacos and you’ll be hooked for sure.
The grocery store is in Jaco. It’s called the Maxi Bodega and is like
a mini, (OK, very mini) Wal-Mart. You can buy anything and the total will
be shown in dollars so you don’t have to think so hard. Be sure to stock
up on plenty of drinking water and grab some sunscreen and bug spray as
well.
If you are a fishing enthusiast, Los Suenos Resort, the largest full-service marina between Mexico and Chile, is located just north of Jaco. It also sports an 18-hole golf course.
Manuel Antonio National Park is located 45 minutes south of Bejuco. Pristine white-sand beaches, wildlife tours, sport fishing, fine cuisine and unforgettable sunsets are all available to be enjoyed at your leisure. (Closed Mondays.)
